6 Months!

Jax turned 6 months on the 9th!

Here are his stats from his checkup yesterday:
Weight: 16 lbs 1 oz, 25th percentile
Height: 26 1/4 in, 49th percentile
HC: 43 1/2 cm, 40th percentile

  • He drinks 4 7oz bottles a day (7,11,3,7).
  • He eats solids twice a day (Level 2 fruits & veggies, or cereal).
  • He drinks water from his sippy cup.
  • He sits by himself - but not for too long b/c he still tips over sometimes.
  • He does a combo crawl - sometimes he's up on all four and crawls on his feet, sometimes he crawls with his knees, sometimes he rocks and lunges himself forward - but he can get all the way around the room now. His poor knees stay red.
  • He sleeps 10 to 11 hours every night.
  • He loves to JUMP!!!!! He loves playing in the bath and the pool. He loves to lay on a quilt outside and watch the dogs. He loves to play with his toys in the floor.
  • He has 4 teeth now - 2 on top, 2 on bottom.
  • He reaches for people when he wants to be picked up.
  • He mocks me with fake screams and fake coughs.

I will add new pics tomorrow. I left them at home today!!

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? However, I could not imagine how in the world we could accomplish such a thing. John and Jax took off to Walmart to look for some Jesus hair. Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
