Loving the pool!

Image
Saturday we went to First Impressions to see Corrie's ultrasound. She is having a girl and is due September 23rd. John's Mom, his nephew Eli, me, Jax, Corrie's husband (John) and their daughter Alexa were all able to see the ultrasound. If you live in this area, you should definitely take advantage of this place. It was the neatest experience. She got a DVD set to music and some great pictures. They had a nice seating/viewing area for us to watch the 4D ultrasound on a 100 inch screen. It was awesome. While we were in Memphis, we went to Babies-r-Us to shop and make a return. We also went to eat at Benihana's -yummy! That evening we went over to Jason & Kelly's. They introduced me to the wireless guitar on the PS2. I was pretty bad at it, but it was fun! Jax was sooooo good on this very long day. He slept in his carseat at Benihana's and Jason & Kelly's. Sunday we went to church, and spent some time in the pool that afternoon. It wasn't sunny o...

Cloth Diapering Update

A few of you have emailed me and asked how the cloth diapering is going. Here is an update and my advice about starting CD (although I am still learning myself)!! I like one-size (OS) diapers because of cost efficency. They are not cheap by any means, but it keeps you from having to buy more when the move up to the next size. It just makes sense to me. I like pocket diapers because you can stuff them with a lot of padding at night, and make them a little trimmer for the day. Also, you don't have to wear a cover with them. I've tried 2 OS: Mommy's Touch pocket diaper & BumGenius 2.0 pocket diaper My favorite is BumGenius 2.0 pocket diaper . It's different from the 1.0 in that you can wash these in hot water. Unfortunately, I only have 2 of them. They are easy to use (velcro), you can preset them to the smaller size (meaning, snap them down to the smaller size and all you have to do is velcro them when it's changing time) , they seem to not feel wet on the outs...

Stats...

Jax is really growing! Last night he weighed 16 lbs 6 oz and 26 1/4 inches long!!! He is getting so big. We don't have too much planned for the weekend. Hopefully we'll get out in the pool some. I'll try to get some pictures of our deck tomorrow. I'm going to Babies-R-Us to get Jax a float for the pool tomorrow. So that will be fun!

Father's Day!

This weekend was really busy!! Saturday we had a yard sale. Then Saturday night Jax and I went to a surprise party for a lady at our church. We left there and went to my Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Freddie's to visit my Dad's family. Jax got a little fussy during the drive and so I was singing the 4th round of "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain" when we pulled into their driveway. I was excited to hear the singing as we walked up to their house b/c I knew Jax would love it. He absolutely loves to listen to people sing. Before my grandparents died, we had a "Friday Night" tradition of everyone getting together at their house. My Dad was one of eight children so it was always a house full of us there. One of our traditions was to grab our hymnals and sing church songs together. My Grandmother loved the singing, and we've just carried the tradition on (both the Friday nights and the singing). This weekend it was a Saturday night, but all of my dad's s...

First Tooth!!!!!!!

Tuesday night (6/12), Jax attacked my hand with his mouth. These days, everything goes straight to his mouth. He bit down on my finger, and I felt a tooth!! I couldn't believe it. This morning (Thursday), I finally could see the little tooth sticking up above his gums. I can't believe how fast he is growing!

5 Months Old!

Jax stayed with my parents while we were gone to Pensacola Beach. He turned 5 Months while he was there!!!! They had a great time showing him off. My mom took a million pictures of Jax. I've added them all to his 3-6 Month album , but here are a few of my favorite 5 month shots. At 5 Months: -Jax is trying really hard to crawl. He can "scoot" all the way across the living room floor. I have to pick him up off the wood floor and put him back on the rug! -He is eating baby food twice a day, and drinks anywhere from 7 yo 8 oz per bottle. -He has tried squash, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, pears, applesauce, and peaches. -He can sit up by himself, but he's bent forward. He has not yet sat straight up by himself. -He falls asleep in his crib by himself every night. -He sleeps between 9 and 10 hours at night. -He loves to grab noses, lips, and hair! -He loves to listen to people sing! -He is very interested in his nighttime story. His favorite is "Sing Me...

Vacation

John and I went to Pensacola Beach for the weekend. It was so fun! The weather was amazing. The water was amazing. The shrimp was amazing! I just love the beach. We went with his sister Corrie, her husband John, and their daughter Alexa. The waves were really strong the first day, and both of the guys got burned. So the second day they wore shirts! I was on the beach a few hours before everyone else in our group made it out there Sunday. I set up right next to a guy who was fishing with his 3 daughters. Believe it or not, he caught a baby shark. Yep, he reeled it in and laid it on the sand right next to me!!! I couldn't believe it. Then he let it go. I have never seen a shark that close (even though it was small, still scary). Someone asked me if we got back in the water then, and I said OF COURSE!! But, I waited until the fisherman got back in with his daughters before I did it! We also saw several dolphins jumping out of the water. It was so neat! I recorded the sound of the wave...

Televison update . . .

Rarely do I watch the news, but I did last night. I was watching CNN for the update on this Atlanta guy with TB. That kind of stuff drives hypochondriacs like me crazy!! Anyway, they had a story about the effects of television on babies/infants. For the most part, it said that we are really unsure of how it affects them. Then I guess b/c of the lack of research, the American Association of Pediatrics suggests that babies under 2 get no television time!!! The report said that many parents get duped into believing that these shows will make their babies smarter!! Yep, I really believed it. Anyway, I'm sharing this with everyone since I just recently told you all to go out and get the BabyFirst TV channel!! :) I guess we can all save that $9.99 a month now. I unsuccesfully tried to find the CNN report, and I found this article instead: The Truth About Television

Hungry Jax

Image
Now that Jax has developed a taste for this baby food, I can't seem to get the spoon to him quick enough. He makes bad faces until I finally get him the next bite. We put him in his highchair for the first time yesterday. I still don't think he's really big enough for it. I put him back in his bumbo chair to feed him this morning. Anyway, here are a few pics: Hurry up and open the food, Mommy!! Now I'm happy!! Faster, Faster!! Finally . . . Yummy! Stop teasing me!!! Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos When my sister and I were little (okay, even sometimes when we were big), my mom read us a bible story every night. We loved it! And looking back, I realize what a bonding experience those special moments were for us. So, I have been doing the same with Jax. After his bath, we read a story. I even have the same books that we did when we were kids. I've been reading to him for a while, but he's just recently started to look at the pages an...
