Weekend Fun!

We had a really busy weekend!! Friday night we went to the Rendezvous in Downtown Memphis. We went with some of our friends who were in town for their 10 Year Class Reunion (Wes & Jaime Crawley, Wes Davis & Taylor) and B & Amy Lauren Lucius. We had a great time! I have to admit that the evening ended with a wild-goose chase for McDonald's Dip cones at 1:30 a.m. Amy Lauren, who is 19 wks pg, is 100% to blame for infecting us all with her craving. Unfortunately, the one McDonald's that was open had broken ice-cream machines. Saturday, Jax and I rode to Memphis with John for his aikido class. Then Jax & I went to Target, Babies-R-Us, and Old Navy. Jax was wonderful through the whole shopping trip! We bought his new crib mattress so we could give Corrie's back to her! Saturday evening, Troy Keel treated us with his amazing hot wings, banana pudding, and bratwursts. Sunday we headed to Grenada after church to return the crib mattress. John's mom cooked a feast: Ham, tomatoes, hot water bread, turnip greens, potatoes, and strawberry shortcake. We had a great time visiting with everyone! We stopped by Batesville on the way home to visit John's dad. So, it has been a very full weekend!!! Here are a few pictures:

I LOVE the video of Jax crawling. He is so fast! Tatum definitely loves to look at his pictures with me, but she LOVES this video! One Saturday when John is in class, we need to get together for a playdate or something.

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? However, I could not imagine how in the world we could accomplish such a thing. John and Jax took off to Walmart to look for some Jesus hair. Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
