Non-toys are the best toys!

It's pretty funny that after all the time you spend selecting fun, entertaining, and even educational toys, sometimes they just prefer the non-toys. Jax is really entertained by all things that fall into the Non-Toy Category! He loves to play with cups, huggies (at GrandMyron's), calculators, remote controls to tv, cordless phones, cell phones . . .

Our weekend was no different than our week . . . BUSY! Friday night my sister and her husband went with us to the Midsouth Fair. We had a blast! We watched the guys play games and ate the fattening fair food that is so yummy. Then we saw Ronnie Milsap in concert. It was a lot of fun. After the concert, I got his autograph and shook his hand. I told him that he was the first person I saw in concert. My dad took me to a Barbara Mandrell/Ronnie Milsap/Ricky Scaggs concert when I was 4 years old. We picked Jax up and got home around 11!


Saturday we went to Grenada for John's family reunion. Jax got lots of sweet treats from his GrandMyron.




Then we went to John's mom's house to visit. We strolled Jax around the block and tried to get Corrie to go into labor - unsuccessfully!! Then we stopped by his dad's new house on the way home. We spent almost an hour at Pizza Hut (the worst service ever) waiting on our food. Sunday, we went to my parent's for lunch, then to NWCC to exercise, and then back to John's dad's house. They watched the UFC fight. Corrie, Alexa, Jax, and I went to Walmart. So it was another late night.

The deck update: It will hopefully be finished tomorrow. My dad and John haven't worked on it anymore this summer. My dad has just been too busy. So daddy sent some of his workers out to finish it up for us. They started yesterday and the tiki hut is almost finished!


Jax decided last night that he wanted to feed himself. He kept taking the spoon from my hands. Let's just say that we both had spaghetti all over us when he was done! This is the first time we've gone straight to bath time before getting his bottle.




Such a happy boy!!

Great minds think alike!!! I was planning to blog tonight about how Tatum doesn't like playing with her toys. I love all the new pics and you guys have a CUTIE on your hands. We STILL need to get Jax and Tatum together.

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
