Jax the Ripper

Well, he's not ripped yet . . . but don't you think he will be if he keeps this up?? The funniest thing is him mocking the sound that John makes when he's lifting.












We had a great relaxing weekend. Jax made to bed on TIME every single night! Yay!! We had pizza and watched a movie Friday night. Saturday we took some stray kittens to the vet, grabbed a burger for lunch, swam, and got Mexican take out for dinner. Sunday morning I taught class, then we went to Walmart and got groceries. John's family came over for lunch and we swam some more. So we basically spent a whole weekend swimming and eating.

I also made a tiny bit of progress in the cleaning out for baby process. I think I'm going to add a tracker to this blog so I can make myself accountable for something every day. Yep, I'm nesting. And I have been for months!

Jax has 2 favorites to watch on TV: Any of the 3 Shrek movies, and this old MGM cartoon set to music that John recorded for him. This is him watching the MGM cartoon.

I LOVE the videos of Jax lifting weights! That sound he is making is too cute. Also, I think he and Tatum could communicate great and actually understand each other! She sounds just like Jax when she talks. I can't believe how big Jax has gotten! Those pictures from last year's post are precious and he is so tiny!

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? However, I could not imagine how in the world we could accomplish such a thing. John and Jax took off to Walmart to look for some Jesus hair. Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
