Super Bowl

We had a great time watching the Super Bowl last night. Even though we STILL have some finishing up to do on the house, we hosted our first soiree. Wendy, Jeff, and their 3 kids, my mom, my dad, jason , kelly, and my family of 4 watched a great game and ate some great food.

Here was our menu:
Pork Tenderloin sandwich rolls
Sausage Rotel
David Garrard's Buffalo Chicken Dip
Nick Mangold's Superbowl Chorizo Chili
Crawfish Etouffee and rice
Texas toast
Pimento cheese
Cheese and Cracker Plate
Hot Dogs
2 Chocolate Chip Pies
Chocolate Chip Cake
Ice Cream


Everything went great except that I wished we had bought our barstools! And Ronin got hit in the head with a book that Jax through. It scared me to death! But all is well. Here are a few pictures. And please note how great my cabinets look that my mom refinished. Can you believe these are the 30 year old brown cabinets that I had??

Looks like you guys had a great time during the Super Bowl! That menu sure looks yummy. I LOVE all that you guys have done with the house and your mom did an amazing job on the cabinets! You will have to post more pictures of all the changes soon.

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
