Ronin - 6 months!!

Jax also had his tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed last Wednesday. It was so difficult when they took him, and he was crying for us!! But he was only back there for about 20 minutes before we were with him again. When he woke up, it was awful!!! He was so confused and mad and STRONG!!! I was so glad when that anesthesia wore off. He's really done great with his recovery. He was back to playing and being himself in no time. But honestly, he's still having a little pain with his recovery even now.

Ronin is quite the adventurer these days. He can crawl!!! He will take 2 crawls forward and then the rest is backwards. When he doesn't crawl, he'll scoot around the room. He can get wherever he wants to go now! He learned this week (spring break) to sleep without being swaddled!!! Yay! And he is still the best sleeper!! He will sleep 12 or 13 hours at night on an average. It's hard to believe he is 6 months old now!!! He is eating stage 2 baby food, biter biscuits, and is still getting breast milk about 2 times a day. I am weaning off though. I am thinking this week will be it for breast feeding!! It's such an emotional thing to stop it for me! Anyway, he had his 6 month check up on Friday. He's 16.5 lbs! He was in the 50th percentile with all of his stats.

Jax is doing really well with his potty training. I just threw him in his big boy underwear last week and said we'll tough it out. We had LOTS of laundry to do that day!!!! But yesterday was great. We have a potty treat container, and he gets to pick from lots of different bite sized chocolates (Rolo's, M&M's, Milky Ways, Hershey's kisses) when he uses his potty. He is super sweet with Ro. He told him he loved him for the first time this morning. So sweet!!!! Jax is thrilled that the weather is warmer, and is begging to be outside every day now!

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
