Outdoor Project

We are really making progress on the outdoor kitchen! We tore down the fence at the end of summer last year. We built a concrete fence, and we will have a fireplace, fountain, and outdoor kitchen with pizza oven under a covered pergola. The best part is that inside this fenced in area, we will have a wrought iron fence leading into a kid's area. It will house the kid's playhouse, sand/water table, picnic table. Then they can walk into a separate fenced in area behind the concrete fence which will have their swing set. This area will have no gate...so no way for them to escape to the highway.

Jax and Ronin love seeing the workers there. Especially when Grandaddy is there. Jax was talking to my Dad on the phone last Monday when the crew got there. He said to my dad, "My workers are here Gwandaddy." Jax has been a big helper....Ronin, not so much. He wants to walk straight in the pool ... which is green and must have a new liner before summer.

This is when the concrete truck was at our house delivering. It was quite entertaining for the boys.




Ronin has also started saying, "Yuck." Which is mostly shortened to "KKKKK." This is a result of seeing the green yucky pool so much. :)

The outdoor area looks great! That will be wonderful to use all summer!

And I can not believe how big the boys have gotten. That last picture is just precious!!

Still waiting on the blog to reveal if you guys are having a boy or girl...lol

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
