Christmas 2012 was wonderful!

The first of the Christmas gifts came from Bobbie and Melvin. The kids loved their bean bags!!!










Christmas Eve was a busy day! We started out at my sister's for our family Christmas. We ALL had a blast opening gifts!












Gunnar had been clingy and quick to cry for about 3 days. He didn't start to act better until about 6:00 pm on Christmas Eve. I was one happy mamma to see the end of whatever caused that. I hate when I can't make my kids happy!!! :(

Then we were ready to move on to GrandMyron's house. The kids had SO much fun opening their presents.  And, the big kids had fun with our surprise presents too. ;)   



















Then it was time to head back home. We parents always have loose ends to tie up on Christmas Eve. We put our wrapped gifts to the kids on the couch in the living room this year. When they woke, they rushed in and opened their presents. Jax...very perceptive as always...was asking the whole time "Who are these from?"  Only after all these presents were opened did we confirm that the presents were from us...so that meant that Santa Claus must have left presents downstairs. Santa left each of them a riding vehicle and a stocking full of goodies. 





















Although we are all blessed to be able to open such gifts, the true blessing of the holiday comes in the joy of spending time with those you love most. I am a lucky "guhl" as Ronin would say...because I have an amazing family.

Moses the Pumpkin

For a school pumpkin parade project, Jax has to come up with a character from a book that he enjoys reading. Then we had to decorate the pumpkin like that character. I made a couple of suggestions (Pete the Cat, Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs), which Jax immediately shot down. He picked a book from our bookcase about ghosts of Mississippi which I immediately shot  down. I told him that he must pick a book that he actually reads. About 30 minutes later, Jax walked into the kitchen announced his new selection: "I have picked The Bible, and I want my pumpkin to be Jesus." Well, how do you argue with that request?? However, I could not imagine how in the world we could accomplish such a thing. John and Jax took off to Walmart to look for some Jesus hair. Banana Bedhead....

I'm sure that Paul Mitchell would be very interested in this new hairstyle that Jax modeled last night. I've known for quite some time that Jax is pretty smart. Now I think that it's obvious that he will also be very fashion savvy. After eating his entire bowl of Spaghetti-o ravioli, I cut up some bananas for him to eat. By the way, we've mastered this new way of eating...2 forks!! While he's feeding himself with one, I'm getting the other fork loaded up with the next bite. He would get a little stingy and refuse (okay, throw a fit) to hand back the fork. So problem solved = 2 forks!! Anyway, he gets pretty sticky when eating bananas because they obviously don't slide on the fork too well. So he uses his fingers. Naturally, the perfect place to wipe your hands when you don't have a shirt is in your hair. Plus fruit is good for you, so it must be good for your hair. Jax's 3 1/2 year old birthday party

Yes, we love half birthdays! When you have a birthday too close to Christmas, it is so fun to celebrate a half birthday in the summer. Besides that, Lisa died the day before his birthday. Not an easy time for our family. My mom did this with me too...since I was a December baby..I sometimes had half birthday celebrations instead. Jax was very specific about his requests...he wanted a Rocky party...with Rocky and the Russian fighting on top of the cake. However, there was not enough room for both. Megan Lucius made the cake! I made the cookies...Lightning Bolt cookies..."When you eat lightning..." We had a poster printed up for a game...prizes were awarded based on which person caused the water balloon to break. It started storming in the middle of the party...all the kids came in for ice cream and cake. They watched Toy Story 2.(June 13, 2010)
